Out and About

"New Bridge"

Very few photos were taken today . Rain bucketed down upon the Tuesday  walkers the whole time.  Luckily we were walking round Sedbergh which is known for its many bookshops. Some walkers (yes me included) cut short their walk to browse. We were parked close to this bridge over the Rawthey and having taken no Blips at all on the walk I went under the bridge to explore.
Although built in the 1700s, it's called "New Bridge" and Historic England describe  it as made of "slobbered rubble".  You don't get the full effect here but Settlebeck Gill , the small stream entering the Rawthey just past the bridge on the left was flowing in torrents from its source up on the Howgill hills.
