The fool on the hill

Don’t chuck

I was going to replace these old screws that secure the rim lock to the door. But then I looked into the history of screws. And it’s pretty interesting. Two things I learned about 19th century woodscrews: they were supplied without a slot and it was up to the user to make one with a hacksaw. Before 1856 they were manufactured without a point on the end and were still made partly by hand.
So they are going back.
