To be strictly truthful I can't tell if this is a male or a female wren, but as the bird is often referred to as Jenny Wren perhaps it doesn't matter.  Best to try to avoid getting drawn into gender politics nowadays I feel, an area that is fraught with pitfalls and bear traps for the well meaning, but unwary.

Turning to the weather (a much safer subject), it was at least dry first thing, but by 9am the rain had started and is due to continue, largely unabated, until Friday.  So very dull flat lighting unfortunately.  Still it is a good day for dealing with all those pesky indoor tasks that mount up (groan) - and I always feel better once I've knocked them off a list.
