Ivan's Widow
Well, blipper mambo would be proud of us. We've been to Cheltenham on the bus today, had lunch, been to the theatre, and then returned home on the bus.
We've been to see 'A Trio Of Tennessee Williams'. Three plays - 27 Wagons Full Of Cotton, Talk To Me Like The Rain And Let Me Listen, and Ivan's Widow (main blip). Followed by a short question and answer session. Mrsfb did a dissertation on TW's lesser known one act plays at uni and she was familiar with two of these.
There were only 23 people in the audience. As you might tell from the titles all three plays were intense and we felt emotionally drained afterwards. We had an hour before the bus so mrsfb dealt with it by going to look around the shops - she bought a plant pot, some coconut ice and some Turkish delight. I went to a pub for a pint of Guinness (extra).
The bus thing worked well, although it's been a day for loud parents. The young mum on the first bus talked loudly to her two small boys all the way there, the only lull coming when she decided to redo her hair with the aid of a selfie view on her phone as a mirror. In the restaurant there was also a loud dad explaining all about his time in Italy to his two daughters. Oh well.
In other news I'm going to a festival! I'd somehow got early access for tickets to see Mitski in August, in a London park not far from daughter#1. I logged on this morning 4 minutes after the tickets became available and it seemed all the normal ones had gone. Only VIP ones at £112 and £144 were available, so I gave up. I love Mitski, but not that much. Daughter#1 had a look later though and some general tickets were now listed. Strange. It then turned out that daughter#2 will be in London around the same date, so we have purchased 3 tickets for us to have a father daughter bonding day.
