Shrike

Exploring the Knysna area we came across this common fiscal shrike. A big fan of shrikes I had to look it up though but it has a longish tail, hooked beak and white underneath. It lives in parks and gardens eating insects, birds, reptiles and rodents just like our shrikes at home.

We have had a chilled day - very chilled. Staying in our amazing hotel which  used to be a power plant fuelled by the waste of logging which the island was famous for. It has been beautifully converted keeping all the original machinery and bits and pieces with each wall and cupboard and corridor having some artefact or memorabilia from the time. Cleverly done.
