Clay > Pot

Just in case anyone thinks I am exaggerating when I say that my garden soil has been puddled into clay, here is a bowl I am making out of what ended up on one of my garden forkfuls.

I won't fire it, as it's full of small stones and I haven't pugged the air bubbles out of it so it could be dangerous in a kiln, but when it's fully dry I will find a way to protect the surface and, as long as it doesn't crack, I will put it into use. For the first time in decades I would like to have a wheel.

This simple craft makes me feel very connected to my far ancestors.
