tempus fugit

Gorses for horses

As the dog and I squelched around the obligatory rain-soaked circuit  I mused upon the evident relish with which these ponies nibbled the gorse blossom. I imagined that the young tips must be softer that the spiny twigs lower down and maybe the flowers add a sweetly perfumed bouquet  to each prickly mouthful.

On a completely contrasting theme I would urge anyone interested in photography (that's us, right?) and in particular women photographers, to watch this documentary about Tish Murtha, who, as a young girl somehow got hold of a camera and made taking pictures her raison d'etre. Working class, passionate, and highly politicised, she photographed the people and places she knew best, refused to conform to expectation and died much too soon, leaving behind a breathtaking body of work. Her life and times are detailed, tenderly and thoughtfully, by her daughter, family, friends and teachers. It's a riveting watch, highly recommended.
