Lichen and moss in Maspie Den

Lovely walk with my son at Pillars of Hercules in Falkland. We stopped for lunch at a dry stane dyke and I was captivated by the micro world of lichen and moss. 

Micro photography is something I really enjoy - this little natural trumpet was about 1.5cm tall. It's another world at that scale, there were some small areas with little red blooms, that look like micro flowers but I think are actually just the growing end of the lichen.

It's all there, these small worlds and details, when we take the time to stop and notice them.
