Life through the lens...

Up to expectations.

Our over night stop at the Hotel Marande in southern Burgundy lived up to expectations, and we were very glad as our friends K&A were staying there for the first time.

Sorry about the colour of the top two photos. Still had the camera set on "sunset"!

First plate full is the "amuse bouche" we had with the aperitifs.
Little pot of tomato crème brulee topped with a basil sorbet, small piece of mackerel topped with red pepper, sushi (not sure what the ingredients were but very tasty! ) and Bayonne ham and melon on a cocktail stick.

Next starter
Saumon en gravelax crème a la aneth (dill) pomme de terre ratte. (tiny potatoes topped with thin slices of truffle.)

Main course(not in photo)
Pork cooked three ways, with sauce Bourguignonne.

Cheese board of 25 different cheeses (Only for MrC and A, as K and I were getting full up!)

To finish
Souffle grand Marnier a la orange, et fraicheur d'Ananas (pineapple sorbet and puree)

A 28 euro menu.
Unbelievable at the price.
Superb tastes and flavours and so delicately put together, with such attention to detail, no wonder the chef Philippe Michel ( who owns the hotel with his wife Elisabeth) is a Master Chef of France.
