The Aliens have Landed

Actually I think it's some kind of horsefly and it's only about 1 cm long, it was quite happily feeding on the cow parsley and didn't mind at all that I shoved a lens right up close. I was rather relieved to find it because there seemed to be nothing else around, everything was very quiet today, maybe because it was so dull and overcast. I made myself go out for a walk because I haven't been for some time and I was getting a bit creaky, it's funny I didn't feel like going out and when I got out there I didn't want to go home but was forced to because it started raining.
