Soho History
Soho walking tours stop outside our little sound post house as it was a major place for mixing music in the 1960s and 70s. In fact they have lists of singles mixed there on the wall that may well be a future blip. Of course Bowie is the big deal for everyone these days and even the threshold has a stencil of him in Aladdin Sane mode.
It was nice to get out of the office for a day and the weather was fine as I walked down through empty streets in Fitzrovia into just waking up Soho. At lunch JC and I went out for Egyptian falafels from a stall in Berwick St. The difference between them and ordinary falafels are that the Egyptian ones are made of Fava beans and so juicier than the chick pea version. JC worked in Cairo so managed to chat a bit with the stall holder who gave us extra hummus in our pitta pockets. Going back there!
We finished the mix and despite a midway call with the writer who wanted to re-tweak some extra lines we finished on time. Slightly worrying that our BBC commissioner didn’t manage to get her link to work so will we have more notes tomorrow and have to go back in?
JC and I travelled home to Petersfield and he on to the Isle of Wight where he lives.
V had supper ready and we watched another, particularly brutal, Shogun. I must say, Seppuku (harikiri) does NOT seem a way one would chose to depart this life.
