Glen traffic jam
The old military road in Glen Croe - the diversion for the Rest and Be Thankful on the A83 - has been in use for the last few days given the continuing downpours and the increased risk that creates for a landslip.
The amount of rain this winter has been has been exceptional, though it may of course become the norm. A couple of hours before this was taken I had been discussing that situation and the difficulty it is causing with the NFUS at their Edinburgh HQ, and I left there in a downpour.
It was even wetter in the west - as is usual - and of course on a Friday evening almost every road north will be busy so there was quite a queue at this spot, but those responsible for the convoy system have it well managed, with a substantial number of vehicles going through on each trip.
It does however produce an unusual sight - a single track road traffic jam in the middle of a Highland landscape !
