Watching The River Flow

“You can find poetry in your everyday life, your memory, in what people say on the bus, in the news, or just what's in your heart.”
Carol Ann Duffy
My ‘official’ birthday today, as K1 wants to go swimming tomorrow so I’ve rearranged a photo outing for tomorrow.
So, today, my unBirthday ‘treat’ is a day out – by bus, destination unknown (even to K1 I suspected at times). So we headed for the bus stop when K1 saw an X24 coming, so we legged it to catch it to make sure we didn’t miss the connection in town. Needn’t have panicked, we had a 20-minute wait. Destination revealed, we took the pretty route to Chepstow – via Pontypool, Usk, Llangwm, past the Amazing Alpacas to Earlswood and Shirenewton. Managed to just watch the world go by, don’t have (so much) chance when I’m driving, so it’s a treat to be chauffeured around.
Arrived in Chepstow in time for late breakfast/early lunch and headed straight for Cwtch Café. Wondered why my ‘bacon butty’ took so long arriving, but when it did it was beautiful, a real work of art and well worth the wait! And tasted really good too – also pinched some of K1’s gorgeous cake too.
Walked down through the town to the bridge, looking for a cottage (not very successfully) I’d photographed for a magazine commission about twenty years ago. Took the earlier bus back to Newport through Caldicot with all the schoolkids on board, not as noisy and boisterous as I thought it would be.
Back in time for a quick meditation/sleep before settling down for the evening simple pleasures of life.
