A Day At A Time.

Levante

On my way to La Linea this morning, I paused at the mirador to capture the Rock with its typical hat of cloud. A characteristic of the Levante wind that blows from the east.

Tragedy struck at Playa Paraíso yesterday afternoon. A 71-year-old Irishman from La Paloma opposite went for his daily swim. He should have known better, as the wind was strong, the waves high and there were bound to be rips about. He got into trouble and could not get back to shore. Despite the best efforts of a few on the beach, there was not much that could be done and he was unable to be saved.

A stark warning that even this coastline has its hidden dangers and much caution needs to be exercised, particularly when the Levante is blowing.
