I was mid-way through cooking supper for the assembled family when someone suggested we walk up the hill to see the sunset. Luckily it was the sort of cooking that could be abandoned part way through and restarted later.
It was a good sunset and a convivial walk, marred by this military plane over Oxford on its way back to the air base in Brize Norton. They always feel ominous to me but this one turned out to be more of a portent than usual, since we woke on Sunday to learn that the RAF had spent the night intercepting Iranian drones bound for Israel.
The conflict is escalating and I don't suppose anyone knows any more than I do where we are all headed.
