Costa Rica Day 12 - Corcovado
Today we went for a four hour hike through the National Park. The humidity was off the scale and we were all dripping, including our guide from our lodge. We were chasing a couple of Red Macaws but they were feeding off the almonds in the Indian Almond trees and underneath the canopy and so the images I took of them were really busy. Just as we got back to the rangers station a pair flew into the top of the tree, thank you very much. Blip done.
On the hike we saw Peccaries, an anteater high up in the trees (first extra - poor shot but it wasn't easy to catch it), multiple birds, howler, spider and white faced monkeys, a black hawk, fungi, flowers, butterflies and some lizards including the common basilisk.
We trudged dripping back to the meeting point at the lodge and caught the tractor cart back to 'the kitchen' for lunch (sunset photo from yesterday). Just before we left a sole chestnut beaked toucan (I wrongly called it a yellow fronted in Tortuguero) put in an appearance, (second extra) and while we were at lunch a roadside (or in this case kitchenside) hawk dropped in (last extra).
Back to our villas where a shower somewhat revived us but then I have slept for about 3 hours. I am blaming dehydration and so I am about to head off to meet the others at the bar to replenish my fluids.
Buenos Noches.
