Last Day
We drove to The Fox & Hounds (see extra) in Barnston for a traditional pub lunch. I had fish pie which was very good and Hubby’s steak and Ale Pie was even better. I am glad I didn’t order the steak pie as it was huge. We then visited Ellesmere Port on the Manchester Shipping Canal which connects Manchester to the Mersey and the Irish Sea.
Not far away is the town of Port Sunlight, home to soap manufacturer, Lever Brothers (now Unilever),. The history of the model village and works of William Hesketh Lever are inspiring. Read here if interested
