The breakfast venue of choice today was a bagel shop. On entering and moving some chairs to accommodate our group of six and picking up a menu we were met with a bit of a frosty reception from the lady behind the counter.
Once seated at tables she moved together for us she gave us menus and great service. I realised that what we'd tried to do would have blocked the counter for other customers and how annoying we had been in trying to be helpful. I enjoyed my bagel with halloumi and avocado and all of rhe other choices also looked great.
After breakfast we said farewell to G&Y who were heading home and needed to allow extra time to get to the airport due to the Poznan half marathon that was circling the city. We then headed towards the botanical garden. Unsurprisingly there was a lot of disruption to public transport and we ended up walking the majority of the way.
The upside to this was that we got to shout 'Bravo'and applaud the fastest runners as they ran up the hill towards the finish line. The rain that was forecast also stayed away as our second bonus.
We did a leisurely circular lap at the garden and once again I could not resist encouraging Adele to adopt a ballet pose. Fortunately she always ha
s an abundance of energy and was very obliging.
Our next stop was Fort V11. A record of the most horrific human behaviour imaginable. That someone captured 'trophy' photographs of the atrocities. A thought provoking and sombre experience.
Adele and I chose to walk the 75 minute route back to the centre. It was great to see the more residential area we passed through and filoes enjoying what turned out to be a sunny Sunday afternoon.
We stopped on route for a cinnamon bun and again for an icecream before a short turnaround stop at our hotel and heading out as a group of four for dinner.
Emma chose an American diner and having established that water is similar in price to alcohol and it being our last evening we all enjoyed the latter with Adele and Elaine opting for a Pina Colada. We had a conversation about why Adele will never watch Avatar.
Back at our hotel operation 'suitcase disposal ' was initiated and fulfilled with the yellow case taking a last ride to the basement carpark and bin. Cases packed, it was time for bed for an up and off start to the week on the horizon.
My room was very warm overnight and I didn't manage to get much, if any, sleep. We had breakfast at the hotel buffet and then went to check out.
