I went out photographing with my friend Ian this morning (not the Ian that I went cycling with). The weather was disappointing - the rain which had been forecast for the afternoon had arrived by about six thirty am, and it was dull and cloudy. Setting a high ISO we set off along the walk around the river. About the first thing we saw was a deer on the path, but it didn't stay long enough to get a picture.
Apart from the deer, there wasn't much about, so we put the macro lenses on and concentrated on small stuff. Lots of pictures of snails and grass were the result, and a few flowers. Having finished the walk, we went up onto the butterfly meadow. No butterflies, unfortunately, but lots of flowers, including the pair above - I think they are meadow crane's-bill. The ones in the book are more purple than this, but apart from that they are the same. Definitely members of the geranium family.
After that, the rain began to come down more consistently, so we called it a day, headed back to the car and home for breakfast.
Sadly, due to the weather, my old school's sports day was cancelled. They might re-run it next week, with a bit of luck, but I'll be going in on Friday anyway, as they want me to photograph the dress rehearsal for their performance. It will be great to see everyone again.
