View to a Kill

Simply the best day ever!

Up early doors for a game drive. Our driver is awesome - he finds the animals by tracking the paw prints and listening to other sightings on the reserve. Oh my he does work hard.

The sun had barely crossed the horizon when we found 5 jackals  squabbling over the remains of a wildebeest carcass and the lioness, her back to us with her prey in a bush. The other lioness sat at a distance   ...
Eventually she carried the carcass out of hiding moving it to her preferred space which is what she is doing here.

Staying with the the scenario for quite some time was fascinating but we had to move on.

The elephant herds were doing roadblocks, and we just sat in the jeep watching 2 of the youngsters play fighting. Grandad watched whilst chewing. Awesome!

This has just been a taster of the amazing day. We finished it off on a hill top the back of the jeep dropping down to be a bar. The sun was setting, the absolutely fabulous hill tops were bathed in a blanket of yellowy/orange and it was quite an emotional moment. I wasn't on my own with this as we have had a couple of great travel companions  who thought the same.

Hubs got out my infrared binoculars (Christmas present) as the night drew in just as a herd of giraffe sauntered slowly past in the fast fading light. The sight of the animals in the dark light up just was amazing. We all had a go and I can download these images when I get home if we get our internet sorted!

In the jeep going home Hubs found these giraffe. It was pitch black, they were so close so I switched the camera settings to tungsten to get the Extra.
