Between Heaven Or Hell In Althleisure Wear

After today's usual Sunday food shop and customary pint at The Horseshoes we were starving as we'd missed out on having breakfast again. So instead of going straight home we decided to head into town for lunch.
Having looked at various options we settled on frequenting the Giggling Squid, with its tag line being "Thai food with personality". It's inside a handsome double fronted Georgian building but could not be more different inside being full of light and decorated with a bright and vibrant colour scheme. The welcome was pleasant if not entirely effusive and the menu promised plentiful dishes, bold flavours and exotic ingredients. We chose four starters of pork dumplings, chicken satay, sticky chicken wings and spring rolls. The food was very tasty but the portions were on the miserly side and it seemed quite expensive for what it was. Added to which my non alcoholic beer was virtually undrinkable. So a slightly underwhelming experience.
Feeling moderately deflated we sought out a dessert to raise our spirits a little and happened upon Valerie Patisserie, which was very quiet, and enjoyed sharing a delicious slice of baked cheesecake and a chocolate eclair with a top notch cappuccino each. Much better!
All that was left was to try and get our images for the day. I was looking for something different for today's shot which is when I came across this distressed poster on a dishevelled side door down one of Maidstone's 'mean streets'.
Well it doesn't really have any of those, although some of them can get quite lairy when the pubs and clubs are kicking out on a Saturday night, but it sounded good for dramatic purposes!
I found out later that the poster was actually promoting a book about someone who had managed to turn his life around from being a shoplifter and a drug addict to a sober, published author and the lessons he had learned along the way. He is so grateful that his life is now leaning much more towards heaven than hell.
