Houblon Defender

Bad news, the two big Houblons are infested with Hop Aphids.

There seem to be three forms on the plant. This ladybird is helping out by eating the little white wingless females. There are winged females and a wingless larger beetle like thing (which may well be something else but the aphid seems to have a rather bizarre multi-form lifecycle I'm not sure)

Reading up the organic way to get rid of them is -
first ladybirds - but we seem to have 2 ladybirds and several thousands of aphids.
Second - blast them off with water - I've tried this and it seems to have got rid of a lot of them.
Third - Weak soap solution - this is for he weekend
