Weka

A large flightless rail, another New Zealand native bird.  I love seeing them on my travels as there are no wekas where I live.

On the way to Pakawau today we stopped for lunch at The Mussel Inn.  I know, all of you who know it are jealous!  Great feed, lovely visits from a family of weka and the waitress was an ex student so we had a bonus wee catch up.

Settled in at Pakawau now, I'm sure there'll be some beach blips to come.

I was out of range last night so I blipped yesterday today too, so if you missed it check out the Weta.
