Lilac Time Again

The lilacs are trying really hard to come out.

Extra- I built the fence 25 years ago. Whoever planted the lilac put it too close to the property line and it grew under the fence and into the neighbour’s yard. In order to build the fence I cut it to the ground. I was prepared to have to dig it up once the fence was finished, the following year.

Real gardeners know what happened next, but I was shocked to see it come back better than ever.

Over the years it got leggy and a couple of year ago I gave it a radical prune. Compare my lovely have with my neighbour’s, still leggy, half.

Maybe there is something to this pruning thing.
