Misty evening
Bizarrely, this evening found us in a packed Uig Hall listening to an open rehearsal of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas. Really, I wanted to go for old times' sake - Mr B and I were involved in a production of Dido at University many, many years ago and I could have sung along without the music. We left at the interval to walk back to the car through amazing clouds of midges - though most of them were clustered round the entrance to the hall, attracted, I assume, by the concentration of carbon dioxide emanating every time the door was opened.
Everywhere was still by this time, and the mist hung low above the forest. Even the deer we had seen on our way there had vanished, and the birds had stopped singing.
Midges make no sound...
