Bunting
When I woke up this morning the ground was covered in frost, and I had to scrape my front windscreen before I was able to set off for the nature reserve. However, the sky was largely free of cloud and before long the temperature began to warm up. It never got hot, but it was certainly too warm for the various layers that I needed first thing and I was happy to give up my search for birds by late morning.
In a sure sign of late spring, the blue damselflies are starting to appear, and I saw one dragonfly in flight. More tellingly the little warblers are back and I heard a cuckoo for the first time this year.
My blip is of a male reed bunting from earlier on today.
