Skookum Bench with a View

Skookum is a Chinock word I learned in Canada - meaning "strong". H and I just built and installed this bench from found materials (beach driftwood, leftover 2x4s, etc) to replace an old one here that was rotting and grown over in this little private view spot where a tree has fallen down to the shore. Yes, I thought it needed a tad more drama so fooled with the tone mapping,....because the bench looks better. :-) Couldn't wait long enough for a sailboat to sail by.....

Last night I gave up posting my Canada Day blip to the internet. sometimes it just doesn't work.
So I'm backblipping it now...but adding some new info here .....
At noon today we turned on the TV to try to get the news from Egypt. We only get 1 channel, the CBC. There was a small mention of events in Egypt, nothing on Syria. The entire hour was devoted to the "terrorist attack" by 2 Canadian individuals with no ties to Al Qaeda (but with "Al Quada like intent" ?) who planted 3 pressure cooker bombs (that were duds) in front of the the parliament building in Victoria BC. yesterday, Canada Day, with 40,000 people present. There was no danger , but the details are yet to be unfolded.... This is a big shock to this peaceful country.

Tonight son #1 and his family arrive for our 4th of July weekend...
