Tarn Crag
Over to Longsleddale today to add to the Wainwright Challenge.
Originally set out to do Grey Crag and Tarn Crag on the Far Eastern Fells. Between the two fells the clouds rolled in, and the hail started - really painful hail, accompanied by high winds blowing it straight into our faces.
Fortunately it was fairly short lived, and coming off Tarn Crag towards the Gatescarth Pass, we decided to keep going! Added Harter Fell (already done), Kentmere Pike and Shipman Knotts, as well as a couple of Birketts.
Probably one of the boggiest walks I've done in all the years of Hillwalking - and although most of the day was lovely and sunny (but cold) - the boots really took a pounding. 12 miles and about 3200 feet of boggy quagmire. It did however mean that the Far Eastern Fells are now completed!
Todays data:
Grey Crag 2093 feet
Harrop Pike (Birkett)
Tarn Crag 2178 feet
Adam's Seat (Birkett)
Harter Fell 2539 feet
Kentmere Pike 2397 feet
Shipman Knotts 1926 feet
25 to go!
