THERE WILL BE BLUEBIRD..........

.... No not  plural over the White Cliffs of Dover but in Coniston instead.

G had been in for a couple of days so I needed to ensure he got out in some fresh air today and took him to Coniston.

We left quite early and went via Greenodd, Penny Bridge, Lowick and Torver.  It doesn't take long and we were actually inside the Bluebird Cafe by the  lake by 10:15.  Although the car park was very quiet the cafe was actually quite busy, not too bad but still busy, probably people on holiday in the area and walkers.

The water was so lovely and sparky in the sunny intervals.  Saw a few boats on the water though so that was nice.  The water was very high so the boat on the lake was not stopping at Brantwood today due to it being too high for the jetty there.

After coffee and wander we headed to a shop just down the road called Sacred Essence, which is basically a mind, body and soul shop.  Supposed to be ope at 11.00 am.  We got there at 11.10 and the sign said open but it wasn't!!!  So we walked around the block, went into the fudge shop next door, had a look at the gallery upstairs then headed back to the shop.  Still not open but the lights were on.  So I looked in the glass door, tried the door again and was just about to walk away when the young lady opened the door.  Apparently she had been on an on-line meeting!!! Never mind, we had a good look around and G was very happy as he bought a few items he was looking for.

After that we headed into Coniston village and parked up, had to pay yet another £5.00 for parking (unbelievable prices these days) for just two hours!!  The headed for the Ruskin Museum as G wanted to see Bluebird.

It was quite busy but again not too bad.  It's impossible to get a good photo of Bluebird but I've done my best (see extras).   After a good look at the Donald Campbell exhibition and Bluebird we then looked around the rest of the museum. It was very interesting and had some great rail information from when there was a station at Coniston.

Then we went for lunch at the Yewland Inn.  Just a  rarebit, which was very nice but the music was a bit intrusive for me.  It was OK when we went in but for some reason they put it on louder.  Too modern  for my liking but to be quite honest the type of music as irrelevant I just don't like it loud when I'm trying to have a nice quiet lunch and a chat, bu then to be fair I'm just an old fuddy duddy anyway!!!

We the went on up to Waterhead for a  little walk along to the jetty, which is no longer i use as it is deemed unsafe.  Now to me the amount of money made from tourists within the whole of the Lake District and on the water you'd think that jetty's could be properly maintained wouldn't you!!!  Ahh well it was still a pleasant walk.  Very quiet there too.

We then just came home via Torver and Greenodd again.
