Stalker in the Stalks

Back to the canal today and another heron blip for me.

I think this is a different bird to the one I blipped yesterday. He looked smaller, possibly a youngster?

I think he was hunting moorhen chicks. After I took this shot he disappeared into the reeds and a couple of minutes later there was a lot of noise and flapping around. The heron flew off but I don't know whether he was successful.

Have a look large unless you're scared by staring eyes...
