The London Loop, day one
Today we took a break from sorting out things, and walked an 8mile section of the London Loop (which is a waymarked 150mile circumnavigation of London) from Hayes and Harlington station to Uxbridge station. The route took us mostly along the tow path of the Grand Union Canal and in the valley of the River Colne. We found it surprisingly peaceful and rural, and we were accompanied by a variety of birdsong all along the way, despite a large human population and many industrial units close by. Oddly, to my mind anyway, most of the cyclists who passed us were food delivery couriers.
A bucolic view of the canal is my main shot with another in extras where a row of poplar trees hides an industrial unit. The other extra is of a pair of Mandarin ducks near Uxbridge.
It was a very good day out, in territory previously unexplored by us.
We look forward to walking another section when we are next staying in the Greater London area.
