Garlic woods
We went for a walk in what we think of as the Garlic Woods this morning. It's a damp, cool, shady bridleway, partly marking the boundary between Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. The garlic flowers are always late to open here, they probably need another week before it is a carpet of white stars.
We also saw for the first time this year a field of cows and calves, newly turned out onto the grass, and the first swallow swooping low across the meadow.
