Grasmere

A mild, pleasant day of weather, perfect for meeting neighbours from when we lived in Cumbria. Today we met in a hotel in Grasmere for Sunday lunch and didn’t leave until 5.00. We haven’t seen each other since before Covid, it could have been yesterday. H is a farmer and never likely to retire but is allowed a Sunday off, his sons run the farm. I asked about the hole in the stone wall blipped yesterday, in his wonderful Cumbrian voice, ‘can’t say I have a clue lass’. A possibility was suggested in yesterdays comments - it is for a sheep to pass through, a hogget hole, where if need be the hole can be blocked off.

John entering into the hotel gardens, the main bf taken from the garden.
