Marathon runner in our midst

Our eldest successfully completed his first marathon today in London. Unbeknownst to us, he'd applied to the ballot last year and was accepted on his first attempt. I had no idea how lucky this was until someone explained to me how many applicants there are each year, and how some people try for years to no avail. He managed to finish a little ahead of the time he'd set himself so is pleased with that. Either way, it goes without saying that we are very proud of him.
