Another trip to Wittenberg today. Another illusion tarnished. Luther is held in high regard due to making a stance against the church and also translation of the bible. He also had unfavorable views about the Jewish population. These were adopted by the powers at be during national socialism. While acknowledging the achievement the effect was one of revulsion. I identify more with humanism than the Christian views that I was brought up with.
