Pine marten
I spotted something moving in the tree and realised it was a pine marten. I knew exactly what it was after. A crow had been sat on a branch earlier on in the day and was trying to get to the pigeons nest. It could not get in but the pine marten had no trouble and came down with a squab in its mouth. No sign of the adult pigeons. Usually the blackbirds create a racket but they were silent.
It’s amazing how easily it climbed the tree and how it even knew the nest was there.
The day had started rainy and foggy but turned into a beautiful day so we spent the afternoon in the garden. Lots of birds are collecting nesting material including sparrows and starlings.
