Geraldine
Yesterday it was Waimate, today it was Geraldine. Geraldine is less than an hours drive inland, a charming small town. It is on the tourist route from Christchurch to Lakes Tekapo and Pukaki, Mt Cook and beyond to Wanaka and Queenstown. There are lovely restaurants, trendy shops, Barkers Cafe and Food retail shop, locally made cheeses, delicious chocolate outlet and a gin distillery…lots of other outlets too.
We had a lovely lunch, pleased we opted for indoor dining instead of the garden alternative as whilst the sun did shine the wind was very cold.
From there we travelled through the hills and valleys to Fairlie for some retail therapy, coffees and a mince and cheese pie (for one person) from the world wide famous Fairlie Bakery.
It was after 5pm before we got home. And easy tea of pumpkin soup and cheese toasties.
A collage in extra.
