La Lena Wilderness
Iconic shapes of the desert southwest (USA). Hoodoos, buttes, mesas, volcanic plugs, we saw them all. You can, too (here). A very rugged 5.5 mile (8.8 km) hike at various elevations between 6,000-7,000 ft (1828-2136 m).
We made our own trail from the top down the sometimes treacherous, always rough, escarpment until the last 1.5 miles where we caught up with the Continental Divide Trail marked with cairns. What a relief!!
~ Volcanic plug in the distance with a mesa to the right.
~ Hoodoos 3-4 stories high.
~ Interesting formation.
Thank you, JohnEdward, for hosting Mono Monday/Shapes
