Pieris

The common name for this tall shrub is Flame of the Forest and this spring it is certainly living up to its name. The shrub is about twelve feet tall and when we were going to build the extension to our house thirteen years ago, this was in the wrong place so the lovely man who was excavating our footings with his heavy machinery had a go at scooping it up and transporting it to a large hole he had dug elsewhere in the garden. We weren’t sure if it would survive at first but in recent years it has gone from strength to strength.
