Consecutive blips on the canal, and a nice array of ‘Shapes’ at Hirst Lock for what is a rare foray into Mono Monday for me.

A few yards from the lock, in the evening football at Salts FC, they eased to a 3-1 win over Tingley Athletic.

And this gives me another opportunity to remind you that in the 'Golden Gordon' episode (1979) of Michael Palin's Ripping Yarns, in which Salts' ground plays the home of Barnstoneworth United, Palin can be seen cycling past these very locks.
