Tiles

The whole day has been spent on a roof, more or less. A friend of mine needed help bringing all the roof tiles down on his summer house because the roof needed mending and the tiles needed changing. To save money he asked if we could help him take the tiles off, our salary would be was food, good company, lots of fresh air and the joy of working hard together. 

After a while you get good at some aspects of the job and find your position, after that it's mostly fun but, as you see in the extra, breaks are essential to straighten the back after the heavy work. We figured each tile weighed about 2 kilos and there are about 1000 of them, ruffly, we need to get them off the roof, moved to the chute where we get them to the ground and then moved from the chute one by one to where they are stacked. Each tile is moved at least four times by five people: 2x1000x4/5=1.6 ton/person. I don't know if the maths is entirely correct but it certainly feels like it. 

We had fun though and will have no problems sleeping.
