Car(e) free zone

The car was collected at 8am the morning.  A young man scrutinised it carefully, taking photos and checking its condition.  After about 20 minutes he showed me his report and emailed it to me and the car company.  All good.  He then said the magic words "it's no longer your responsibility".  And drove it away.

I now feel somewhat light-headed.  For the first time in over 50 years I do not own a car.  And all that that entails.  The responsibility; the expense, the guilt.

It won't last of course; there will be another one in that space sometime next week.  But for the moment I am enjoying the freedom.
