Baby wasp nursery?!

B found this on the way to school.  She thought the pinkish round thing was interesting and took it to show her teacher and then brought it home to keep safe. We didn't know what it was so here I am laying in bed and did a google reverse image search which just told me it's an oak apple gall and is home to wasp larve!  I have never heard of such a thing!  I am fond of bugs and creepy crawlies but I do not like the of the idea of wasp larve in the house! So I have just had to get out of bed to a) find it and b) evict the stick and ball thing to the garden! Does anyone know if google is correct?
