Sorry - there’s no better word.
I sat there for a couple of minutes, with my thumb over the hole, wondering what to do. In the end I shoved the nail back in the hole, ran downstairs and drained the system.
The pipe has now been ‘cut n shut’ and all is well again.
About half a pint spilled I reckon.
