Bluebells in Standish wood
I notice this is my second bluebell blip of the season.i blipped them in Prinknash Abbey grounds on 13th April. In rural Gloucestershire we are very proud of our bluebells, and going for a bluebell walk in Standish woods is a traditional pastime in April.
Annie and I (from the India trip) drove up to Tessa's house in Randwick, and then over to Standish woods for a circular walk. I think I was last there in Autumn, with comrade A, with whom I work, and the footpaths are being relaid. I think some deer culling may have taken place, along with some strategic laying down of dead tree trunks to prevent dirt bikers going off piste. The woods are managed by the National Trust, I believe. It was an enchanting walk, all the way to the topograph at Haresfield beacon and back by the same route.
Tessa gave us tea back at her place, and showed us around, then Annie drove me back to the Trinity rooms and stayed for lunch too. We had pheasant egg fritata! How ridiculous does that sound? S and E joined us too. Then I went back to the flat with them for S',s lesson. These days we don't do English, we talk about 'why people behave the way they do'. It strikes me that it might have been helpful for the 24-year-old-me to have had an older person to talk to, but that's water under the bridge now.
Did I mention that I'm watching the Jackson Brodie series called Case Histories on an 'old TV' app? I loved the books. They're set in Edinburgh, some of the time, and we're written by Kate Atkinson. I must have missed the series at the time it aired, 2011-2013. Best of all, there are no ads! No ads. I think Atkinson has written at least one more Brodie novel since Started early, took my dog. Must check this out.
