Baltic lunch
I got the bus to town to meet my daughters for a day out together. We saw some Chris Killip photographs of the shipbuilding on the Tyne in the 1970s. We paid our respects to Wor Bella - Isabella and the pot of basil by Holman Hunt before walking down to the river for lunch at Six at the Baltic. We decided to spend money on a taster menu rather than twice as much at a spa and it was really delicious. We had 9 courses with the wine pairings for the 6 course menu. I had the plant-based one as the other was mainly shellfish. It was so beautifully presented and all much more refined than the daughters had had there previously. They have upped their game and we’d all definitely go back.
We’d intended to look at the Baltic exhibitions but we’d taken over 4 hours for lunch and #3 daughter had to get home as Ella had been away on a school activity residential for 3 days. We got doggy bags for our very generous cheese course and the petit fours the walked along the river and up Dean St to Monument for the metro.
I am at #2 daughter’s for the night. We even sat in the SUN (it was 8 degrees!) with another drink before the boys came in from the pizza place their Dad had taken them for their tea.
It’s been a lovely day. The blip is a collage of lunch.
