A day at The Hague...
Today we visited two museums.
First we went to the Mauritshuis-museum, where we visited the exhibition “Roelant Savery's Wondrous World”, a Dutch painter of the early 1600’s; the painting left on the top is a painting of him. We also visited their normal collection, where we saw the most famous painting of the museum “Girl with a Pearl Earring” from Johannes Vermeer.
Then we went to the Panorama Mesdag-museum, where we visited the exhibition “Children of the Hague School”, paintings from children painted by painters from the Hague end of the 19th century (painting left at the bottom). In this museum we also visited the Panorama of Scheveningen painted by Hendrik Mesdag end of 19th century; The panorama shows an impressively painted beach and seaside scene: a vista of the sea, the dunes and the old Fisherman's village Scheveningen. In the centre of the building that incorporates this panorama, an artificial dune has been created on a roundabout. From a viewpoint above the dune, visitors will see the same panorama as if they were standing on the Seinpost dune, the highest dune in Scheveningen at the time (painting left at the bottom).
