Hamilton 2

Busy day of clients and Maths. One week to go to the exam and all but one pupil are up in the high 80s for their past papers. Exciting
Sprinting into town to El Cartel, a wee Mexican tapas diner in Teviot Square. Superb tacos and frozen margerita, Ooops brain freeze, then SURPRISE for N, managed to get two tix for Hamilton on Facebook Marketplace. Have to say was nervous of their validity, and as we climber higher and higher to the fifth floor of the Festival Theatre, thought I’d been sold a dummy. However, we were in a box right at the top with the best view of almost all the stage.
Only two months since we saw the London production so great going in knowing what to expect and was able to follow the storyline better. Some of the voices were better although I wasn’t a fan of Eliza who was rather shrill and Anjelica, less clear. Phenomenal Alexander Hamilton and Burr, sir but as ever my favourite is Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson. Or was it the King?
Transfixed the whole show, even my Revels nearly melted before eating, let’s face it, that never happens.
Minor incident just at the end with the penultimate stirring song in full flow, ‘can we have some help here?!!’ Right beneath us, someone in the balcony had fallen ill and about twenty of the audience were shining their phones and gathered round trying to help. A tad distracting particularly for the cast who valiantly carried on but only one set of bows and clapping at the end. Despite deserving much much more Everyone hurried off.as did the audience, a bit bemused.
(Turned out it was a man who had fainted and all was well)
