Whorled Solomon's-seal (Polygonatum verticillatum)
Was out in the field this morning for work doing a site check for Whorled Solomon's-seal (Polygonatum verticillatum). This vascular plant is very rare, in fact it only grows in 10 locations on steep riversides in the southern Highlands of Scotland. I managed to relocate the known population for the particular woodland I was checking. It's good to see it is still surviving.
Got back to the office early afternoon. Wrote up my field notes and headed home early to catch the tennis...
Phew! Just finished watching Andy Murray win his quarter final at Wimbledon against Fernando Verdasco. Murray was down two sets but somehow managed to turn it around and win. It was like watching a final. With so many good players out, could this be Andy's year? Not convinced, he only won by the skin of his teeth in the 5th set.
