Pompeii

We spent the whole day at Pompeii, which was fascinating. Very poignant to see such extensive remains of this once beautiful, large, developed city so suddenly completely destroyed.
This photo is of the remains of a once lovely pillared courtyard of one of the many wealthy houses there. It was amazing to see such a variety of places that had been uncovered, some partly reconstructed:- shops, taverns, theatres, amphitheatre, public baths, and palaces, etc, with some impressive mosaic floors and frescoes.
